Laser Skin Resurfacing

Dr. Sparano is one of the only regional physicians offering the Encore UltraPulse system for fractional CO2 laser resurfacing. The UltraPulse technology delivers fractional laser therapy allowing for the treatments known as ActiveFX™, DeepFX™, and TotalFX™. Each of these treatments involves treating the skin in a customized fashion with controlled depth, and leaves surrounding healthy skin to aid in the regeneration process. The UltraPulse technology is designed to deliver unrivaled results with minimal downtime.

Dr. Sparano is a regional instructor for Lumenis and for the Encore UltraPulse treatments. He has performed hundreds of procedures and has developed protocols that can be tailored to fit each patient’s facial needs.

As we age, we accumulate colored spots on the skin (dyschromias), and more importantly we lose both volume and organization of collagen in the deeper layers of our skin. Collagen is a vital structural element that helps give the skin its strength and youthful qualities. One of the reasons Dr. Sparano believe the TotalFX™ treatment is of the best available is because it is a treatment that stimulates the body to regenerate new collagen in a natural and cosmetically pleasing way.

Unlike most laser therapies, the Encore UltraPulse technology and the TotalFX™ treatment delivers enough energy to invoke real, impressive results while at the same time minimizing the associated downtime. In order to achieve the level of improvements the TotalFX™ delivers, patients previously would experience several weeks of crusting and months of facial redness. With the UltraPulse technology, a TotalFX™ treatment can improve the appearance of the skin with between 3-10 days of redness, depending on the type of treatment. Furthermore, the results improve progressively over the first 6 months after treatment.

The ActiveFX™ treatment is designed to treat dyschromias (pigmented areas) as well as superficial wrinkles of the skin with approximately 3-5 days of healing time after a single treatment. After an ActiveFX™ treatment the skin will appear tightened, more refreshed, and more homogeneous in color with smaller pore size.

The DeepFX™ treatment is designed to treat scars, dermal lesions, and to stimulate long-term skin remodeling for a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance. This is accomplished after a single treatment with about 3-4 days of healing time. The skin will continue to improve over the first 6 months after treatment as new collagen is deposited to refortify the skin in the body’s own natural way.

 
The TotalFX™ treatment is the ultimate in laser skin resurfacing. It is designed to treat dyschromias (pigmented areas), wrinkles, scars, acne scars, dermal lesions, and to tighten the skin while stimulating long-term remodeling for a rejuvenated and refreshed appearance. This is accomplished after a single treatment with about 5-9 days of healing time. The skin will appear tightened, more refreshed, and more homogeneous in color with smaller pore size. The skin will continue to improve over the first 6 months after treatment as new collagen is deposited in the deep layers of the skin. The TotalFX™ treatment is a healthy procedure for the skin and brings great satisfaction in the weeks and months that follow, as well as in years ahead.

The above procedures are performed in Dr. Sparano’s procedure room. Depending on the treatment selected, he uses a combination of topical and local anesthesia with light sedation. The treatment generally takes between 20-60 minutes, with additional time for topical anesthesia and post-treatment instructions. There is generally no need for additional treatments.
